Costa Blanca Area Information

Torrevieja is the nearest town and is the name best known to those thinking of moving to this part of the Costa Blanca.

Once a small fishing village it has now grown into a busy town where the more serious side of things can be attended to. Shops, public offices, banks and legal services can all be found here together with markets, restaurants, historical places of interest, squares, a marina and the traditional promenade providing a scenic walk overlooking beautiful beaches with many opportunities to stop and have a quiet drink as you take in the atmosphere.

The many salt lakes in the area offer both scenic views and a haven for wildlife not to forget the health benefits.

Outside of the town itself is where you will be spolit for choice when it comes to locating your dream home.

Apartments, villas and bungalows are spread out amongst the various developments both young and old, all in easy reach of the magnificent beaches running along the whole of the Costa Blanca. Not forgetting the choice for the golfer with 3 courses within 10 minutes of each other and even more a short drive away.

Villa Martin, Campoamor, Las Ramblas, La Finca and Quesada are all on hand with even more if you want to drive further afield.

Golf is not the only sport catered for with Tennis and Bowls facilities also available, not to mention swimming pools, and water sports provided on many of the beaches.

For those looking for a more sedate approach to their time here in Spain there are many places to just soak up the sun from blue flag beaches, pools and beautiful parks all offering ideal resting places and there will always be a good restaurant or bar close by.

For those who prefer to do their own cooking, the choice of supermarkets means that there is always somewhere close by to stock up with whatever anyone could possibly want. For the dedicated shopper, apart from Torrevieja itself there is a huge Carrefour just outside the town and a El Corte Ingles currently under construction. For those who like to haggle there is a market every day in one of the surrounding towns where many a happy hour can be spent tracking down those bargains.

Or you might simply wish to sit on your own terrace and just enjoy the climate and the time to reflect on what a great place it is to be whether for just a few weeks a year or longer if relocation is your choice.

Consider all this and the added bonus that Torrevieja is considered by the World Health Organisation to be one of the healthiest places in the world to live. The area offers clean air supplemented by healthy mineral deposits, very little rain and an all year round temperatures that allow you to spend the majority of your time outside.

Free healthcare is available to those who contribute to the Spanish social security system and pensioners from the UK. For those who do not fall into these categories private health care is required if you are intending to live here or spend long periods in your Spanish home. For those seeking private medical assistance from a local GP to Dentist or Osteopath, they are all available and offer excellent standards of service at rates lower than those encountered in the UK.

If you have a pet in Spain there is nothing to worry about as the vetenary services are once again excellent and equally reasonable when it comes to charges.

It really is impossible to do justice to the area in written form so you will just have to come and have a look for yourself.
